Xun Yan grew up poor. His parents divorced because their values didn't align, and now loud noises make him feel irritable. He lives with his mother and feels suffocated by her overbearing control. His life had been plain and uneventful, until a transfer student named Gu Chang barged into it.
Gu Chang's family is fairly wealthy. His mother and father were forced to marry, and after giving birth to him, his mother sent him to another family under the pretext of doing what was best for him. That family only wanted to use him to make money, and they beat and cursed him constantly. He eventually escaped and met his current father, who was afraid his previous trauma would upset him, so he always indulged him. Gu Chang grew up to be like the sun. His grades were better than Xun Yan's, and he became the center of attention as soon as he arrived.
Xun Yan thought his initial feeling was irritation, but it wasn't until he argued with his mother that he realized the truth.
After the students were assigned to new classes, the two ended up together. Xun Yan accidentally hit the corner of a desk while walking, and two voices sounded at once.
