M-2047 lived in the pen for twenty-five years.
His world consists of three doors: workshop door, canteen door, and dormitory door. His identity is a series of numbers, his value is assessed by the "scale" system, and his end point has already been written on the elimination notice. Here, no one has a name, no one asks why, no one thinks about what is outside the door.
Until he discovered the pipeline.
Hidden in the mezzanine of the canteen wall, leading to an unknown place. There is a line of words carved on the wall of the pipe, scrawled as if scratched with fingernails: "Go forward, don't look back."
M-2047 drilled into that pipe. He didn't know what lay ahead - maybe the exit, maybe death. But he knew that if he stayed where he was, he would be just an animal waiting to die.
He climbed for ten days.
When he emerged from the other end of the pipe, he saw a world he had never seen before - not a fence, not a workshop, not a gray ceiling. It's a glass tower. Hidden in the tower is a machine called a "balance" that records the life of each animal. At the top of the tower lived a man who should have died fifteen years ago.
The man left him a key and a map.
The map shows the world beyond the fence. On the edge of the map, there is a red cross with a line of small words written next to it: "There are still people here."
M-2047 held the key and stood at the highest point of the glass tower, looking at the densely packed squares below. Behind him, the gate to the pen was open. More than 34,000 "livestock" stood in front of that door, and no one dared to take the first step.
He stepped out.
This is not a story about love. This is a story about a man who decides to live like a human after discovering that he is not an animal.
Purpose: To explore the destruction of human nature caused by extreme patriarchy and alienated labor, to show the awakening and self-salvation of low-level individuals in desperate circumstances, and to reveal that hope is often born from the complete denial of absurd reality.
