A man who can't get close to cats x a man who occasionally turns into a cat
Ning Xingchu carried a small folding stool into the park and sat down. He set up an advertising sign beside him, bearing a few eye-catching words:
I'll teach you how to handle cats!
The red background and yellow lettering grabbed everyone's attention. Passersby all looked his way. An old man stopped for ten seconds, then came over to ask where he had learned his skills.
Ning Xingchu adjusted his sunglasses, waved his fan, and tilted his head with a smile, saying nothing.
Where had he learned it? He was born with it!
Two months ago, Ning Xingchu woke up to find he had become a cat.
An English Shorthair silver shaded cat, a breed native to Britain.
Fresh back from studying abroad, Ning Xingchu was forced to embark on an unusual gap year:
By day, he rushed from place to place, praying at temples and consulting famous doctors, desperately looking for a way to escape his feline body. At night, he curled up at home, eating dried fish and hugging catnip, meowing over and over.
After traveling all over the country, Ning Xingchu finally obtained a strange prescription. It contained no rare ingredients, just a few words:
"To cure this condition, one must broaden one's horizons."
Broaden his horizons? See what? Learn what?
The answer: strange cats like him.
He had to find his kind among cats who couldn't be easily handled, cats with minds and temperaments of their own. Only then could he escape this neither-human-nor-cat existence...
"Hello!"
A pair of black leather shoes stopped in front of him.
His first customer wasn't one of the elderly people dancing in the park, nor a young woman cuddling and petting a kitten, but a man in a sharp suit.
"Sir, I think you've come to the wrong place," Ning Xingchu said, looking up in surprise. It wasn't even a day off. What was an office worker doing wandering around the park?
"I'm in the right place."
The man held up his phone. "Alipay payment received: 2,399 yuan."
"I want to learn how to handle cats."
"Where's the cat?" Once the money came through, Ning Xingchu took off his sunglasses. "What exactly does it do when it misbehaves?"
"There isn't one yet."
"Huh?"
He hadn't met a weird cat. He'd met a weird person.
Holding the personal information card in his hand, which looked for all the world like a matchmaking flyer, Ning Xingchu somehow ended up establishing a rather unorthodox training-service arrangement with a man named Zhong Shiming.
