Futile Struggle

Aaron Hotchner, the sternest father figure in the FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit, was always calm, collected, and intensely disciplined.

The good news: his younger brother and stepsister both got into Georgetown University Law Center, just like him. The bad news: his brother went into cooking and got caught up in a gang case, while his stepsister, Gloria Bugliosi, became an influencer and was threatened by admirers countless times.

Then, one day, Hotch had another explosive argument with Gloria. He couldn't understand why she kept making one self-destructive choice after another. "The moment you missed my wedding and Haley's funeral, I decided you wouldn't be a priority in my life anymore."

Gloria broke down and shouted, "I've been in love with you since I was thirteen. How could I be there when you were at your happiest with someone else?"

Everything spiraled out of control.

I struggled in vain; it was useless. I could no longer restrain my feelings. Let me tell you how passionately I adore you. --Pride and Prejudice
