I'm no good at writing blurbs, so here's a rough outline of the plot and characters. [Save it early, finish it early.]
The two leads grew up together and agreed to study abroad together, but Chen Qi broke her promise.
The day before they were supposed to leave, Liang Jieying confirmed the departure time and meeting place with her several times, and asked if she'd packed. Chen Qi assured Liang Jieying that she had everything ready.
The night before, Liang Jieying asked her, “If I ran away with you, would you be scared?”
Chen Qi shook her head, sure of her feelings. “No.”
As long as she was with Liang Jieying, she wouldn't be afraid.
But the next day, Liang Jieying waited at the designated place and time, only to receive a text from Chen Qi that said, “I'm sorry.”
Just three words, and Liang Jieying understood.
She didn't look back or cry. She simply held firmly to her resolve. As long as she left this place, she would succeed.
Eleven years later, Chen Qi was still going nowhere, working as a programmer at a company in Shenzhen. Her salary was decent, just enough to get by, but her parents' conflicts remained, and so did her miserable life. For eleven years, she had regretted not leaving with Liang Jieying countless times.
When, on this day eleven years later, she opened the blinds in the office break room and recognized Liang Jieying in the office building opposite, she thought: Maybe there's still a chance, isn't there?
