Farming, everyday life in the marketplace, ancient fantasy, mystery and deduction, ensemble cast
In her previous life, she had been too restless, chasing fame, fortune, and grades. She had lived like a dog. In this life, all she wanted was a peaceful existence.
When Wu Ying opened her eyes, she had become the owner of a tofu shop. She thought she could relax, until she opened the shop's cashbox and saw that it was drafty, with a huge hole broken in one corner.
First things first: she had to make money, or she'd starve.
She'd barely enjoyed a few days of selling tofu when a competitor opened another tofu shop and cut prices in half, stealing her customers.
Wu Ying returned to the courtyard and began sharpening a hatchet. She looked at its gleaming edge, then tossed it aside, pushed her little cart to the docks, and set up a stall.
She thought to herself, So they cut prices... Fine. If I can't beat them, I can at least run faster.
A few days later, the shop across the street mysteriously went up in flames.
Wu Ying laughed with delight!
Wu Ying threw her head back and howled. Whoever tried to stand in the way of her peaceful retirement was her enemy.
1. The heroine wants a quiet life, but life is a thorny thicket. She can't get through it or around it. Only by finding her place can she find peace of mind.
2. This is a farming story, not a wish-fulfillment story. The everyday flow is occasionally interrupted by dramatic conflicts. Selling tofu is the main thread, with all sorts of side stories branching off from it...
3. The story has plenty of foreshadowing, which will be explained later.
Theme: Be self-reliant and live in the present.
