[A gold-medal veterinarian who only cares about making money × a black cat who acts cold by day and begs for pets at night (?)]
After gold-medal veterinarian Chen Chunxiao died suddenly on the job, she opened her eyes to find herself the biggest joke in the capital. The original owner was lovesick and ran off with someone, cut ties with her biological parents, and left her saddled with debt and a city full of rumors. Facing the mockery, she dug into pockets even cleaner than her face and hung up a conspicuous sign:
"The Cat House: Tea, cat cuddles, and medical care for cats and dogs."
On the first day, she rescued a filthy stray cat. On the tenth, she cured a noblewoman's lame mynah bird. On the twentieth, the Emperor's royal cat was rushed to her shop in the middle of the night.
The capital's nobles lined up to pay her, while the fake friends who once laughed at her turned green with envy. Only the huge black cat she'd picked up on a rainy night was a real handful: aloof and fierce by day, but at night it insisted on burrowing soft and warm into her bed.
Then one day, the original owner's ex, who had cheated her out of money and seduced her, followed the scent of wealth to her door. He clung to her leg and wailed, begging to get back together. Before Chen Chunxiao could make a move, a long, pale hand slammed the back courtyard gate shut for her.
"Want me to throw him farther away? I'm strong." The man in black robes with ink-black hair had a cold expression. He narrowed his eyes, golden light flickering in their depths. Despite his fierce, murderous look, he was stunningly beautiful.
Chen Chunxiao fixed her gaze on his reddening ear beneath his pretended ferocity and suddenly laughed. "Little kitty, you weren't this fierce when you crawled into my arms last night."
P.S. The male lead spends the early part of the story as a big cat in front of the heroine. His true identity is the young lord of the tiger clan, and he can take human form. The heroine is an ordinary human girl, well, not entirely ordinary: she's exceptionally smart!
