On a Thursday during typhoon season, in her third year of middle school, Jiang Qi's little dog goes missing. Still a child herself, she listens to her parents arguing and thinks she might as well get lost with the dog. But she doesn't dare go too far, afraid her family won't be able to find her. At the entrance to the residential complex, she meets Qin Wenzheng, a high school senior. The older girl invites her inside, gives her some water, and she cries herself to sleep.
To comfort the child, Qin Wenzheng goes out to buy her a stuffed puppy. By the time she gets back, the child has been taken home.
