Liu Que is transmigrated into the body of a foreign spy who tried to assassinate the emperor. Luckily, a Medical System appears out of nowhere and helps her escape disaster.
"I'll help you, but you have to make a deal with me and fulfill my requests," the System says.
Her handlers assign Liu Que to work for the emperor at the Imperial Medical Bureau, where she gets an easy, mostly idle post.
"The general's condition is extremely strange and rare. Treat him."
"I've heard everyone from your Xilang Kingdom is immune to poison, and your blood cures every illness. Let me use some of yours."
"This is the deadly poison Heart-Piercer at a Hundred Paces. We need to develop an antidote, so you can try it... What do you mean, what do you think? You're the test subject, so take it!"
After she joins the Imperial Medical Bureau, the physicians' favorite pastime is experimenting with poisons and testing them on her.
To avoid being poisoned to death by these old geezers, she has no choice but to repeatedly call on the System to get her out of trouble.
But Liu Que discovers that although she has thwarted attempts to poison her, physical assassinations have taken their place. Someone is trying to kill her every day, yet each time she turns danger into safety through some bizarre ability.
"I told you people from Xilang are skilled in poison and know witchcraft. Hehe! See? Haven't I proved it?"
"Flying, burrowing underground, summoning rain and breathing mist, even illusion and face-changing. That's not witchcraft, it's demonic magic."
"It really is demonic magic. That criminal woman bewitched Prince Su. He risked his life to save her several times and even sheltered her in his manor. That criminal woman can't be allowed to live."
Such talk grows ever more common in the palace and at court. She becomes a foreign demoness who brings ruin to the country and its people.
In the prince's manor, the woman accused of being a demoness looks innocently at the cold-faced man who, according to everyone else, is protecting her but is actually keeping her under watch. "Witchcraft, demonic magic, it's all an illusion. You're so clever, you wouldn't believe it..."
Before she can finish, she hears the System's voice: "Want to cultivate immortality? Want eternal life? Then go get the emperor's thousand-year-old spirit fungus. This System can grant every wish its Host makes."
Liu Que is stunned. This world has immortal cultivation? Is that for real? Aren't you a medical system? Why are you talking about cultivation? Is the System broken? Did you get mixed up with another one?
