After being killed ten times by a top-tier Xianshi player in the Ninguan Arena in New Chinese Ghost Story Online, I, Zheng Wei, a nobody at the bottom of the food chain, held a grudge and deliberately made a healer alt to get close to him undercover.
Everyone knew that Gu Yi, the game's number-one Xianshi, was aloof and taciturn, kept everyone at a distance, and never pursued an in-game romance.
I only wanted revenge: make him fall for me, then stand him up and block him when it was time to meet in person, and leave with a flourish.
I'd planned my revenge down to the last detail. I hid my main account's identity as a male Meiren and had never posted a single real photo of myself. I thought my cover was flawless.
But before I could put my escape plan into action, a new boss was parachuted into the company.
It was none other than Gu Yi, the in-game partner I had planned to toy with and abandon.
