I recently realized this story has gone a bit off track, so I need to make some adjustments _(:з"∠)_
East Asian academic ace X mixed-blood werewolf
Li Wu’an never imagined she’d somehow bomb her college entrance exams as if she’d been cursed.
Just as her vision went black, her superstitious grandmother somehow got her an acceptance letter from an overseas university
An obscure diploma mill,
and for a magic major, no less.
After much deliberation, she decided to go abroad. At worst, she could use the diploma mill as a stepping stone and get into a decent graduate school.
But when she arrived to register, she realized her grandmother had gotten it wrong.
It wasn’t stage magic, it was real magic!
The kind where you wave a wand, chant spells, and fly through the sky or burrow underground!
Just as Li Wu’an’s worldview was being thoroughly shattered, sneering voices kept calling her “Mudblood.”
Her East Asian face made her an outsider among the new students, even among the other outsiders.
Worse still,
her roommate was downright hostile.
She was a beautiful mixed-blood girl, but also cold and prickly from head to toe.
Li Wu’an could tell that starting a new life here would be an uphill struggle.
But she hadn’t expected an even bigger challenge to be waiting for her
The ancient Western-language incantations in her classes were beyond her comprehension.
As she was tearing her hair out over an exam, her eccentric grandmother’s notes fell to the floor.
The obscure Daoist spells in them seemed to correspond to the principles in her textbook!
A wild idea suddenly came to her.
Nora didn’t want to make friends.
But it wasn’t because of her mixed-blood appearance. After all, as long as she put on a cold expression, no one dared bother her.
She couldn’t understand how her roommate could be so indifferent to other people’s malice.
She also didn’t know why Li Wu’an always drew her attention.
And she had no idea why she, who usually minded her own business, kept stepping in to help her.
It even infuriated her that Li Wu’an saw right through her every time.
Still, none of that mattered. No matter what, their relationship could go no further.
She was an outsider among outsiders, and no one could glimpse her deepest secret.
No one could accept someone like her.
Until one full-moon night, when Nora was sick and didn’t manage to hide in time.
Li Wu’an walked right in on her secret.
Li Wu’an slapped a yellow talisman onto her, easily suppressing her violent frenzy.
Worn out by pain and fury, Nora quietly waited for the scream and accusation she expected.
Instead, a hand reached out to touch her forehead. “Why are you burning up?”
Nora’s eyes flew open. She stared in disbelief at the roommate she had always treated coldly.
“Aren’t you afraid of me?”
After that, Womming University had a strange new pair on campus.
That East Asian girl was using some kind of magic, and yet she easily outdid the best of the best!
“What was that spell? How did you cast it without an incantation?”
Li Wu’an blew across the muzzle of her peachwood pistol. Seeing the other girl still staring at her, she raised an eyebrow and gestured toward the figure lurking behind her.
“Still not convinced? Take it up with the werewolf behind me!”
