Xiao An finds a pregnant man on the street.
The man is covered in injuries, confused and delirious, yet clutches his coat tightly and calls out in a trembling voice, "Hubby..."
He should have called the police. But looking at the man's slightly rounded belly and the desperate dependence in his captivating eyes, Xiao An somehow takes him home.
The man's name is Tang Jingshu. He's absurdly obedient and absurdly beautiful. Though he's almost seven years older, he has to curl up in Xiao An's arms every night to fall asleep. Even when Xiao An throws things and yells at him, Tang Jingshu only kneels and looks up at him, pleading softly, "Don't be angry, hubby... Please?"
Xiao An doesn't consider himself a good person, and feels no guilt about taking him to bed.
Clinging to Xiao An's shoulders, Tang Jingshu murmurs hazily, "Hubby, you seem a little different from before..."
Xiao An finally snaps. "I'm not your husband."
Tang Jingshu blinks, not understanding.
Whatever. They've already slept together, so taking on the role isn't out of the question.
Xiao An thinks that as long as he keeps Tang Jingshu hidden at home, he'll be safe. But then his ex-husband's family shows up, pointing at Tang Jingshu and cursing him for climbing into another man's bed as soon as his husband went to prison.
Tang Jingshu curls up in the corner, trembling, with the baby he just gave birth to in his arms. After the troublemakers leave, he crawls over on his knees and clings to Xiao An, tears pattering down his cheeks.
"I'm sorry, hubby..."
"It's my fault they found our home... Please don't punish me, okay?"
Xiao An grips his chin and speaks slowly and deliberately.
"All right. Then I'll punish you by making you carry another baby for me."
Tang Jingshu: ?
Tang Jingshu seems to understand, but his instincts tell him this punishment might not be all that frightening.
That night, after Tang Jingshu falls asleep, exhausted, Xiao An carefully tattoos two words onto his waist, one stroke at a time:
My prey.
Xiao An admires the result, thoroughly pleased, until he later discovers that not only is "Tang Jingshu" a fake name, but the man himself is an old acquaintance from ten years ago.
Xiao An: I've been played. I'm so mad.
But then he sees how spoiled Tang Jingshu is, needing someone to feed him even at mealtimes.
Xiao An: ...I'm even madder that I kind of like it.
