An Jin Amid the Ashes

Male lead: Xie Jinci. Female lead: Shen Qianqian. Synopsis of A Thousand Years of Golden Threads

Shen Qianqian would never forget that smoke-filled afternoon.

She was trapped in a drug dealer's prison, swallowed by fear and on the verge of despair, when Xie Jinci, in his police uniform, burst through the darkness. He was an officer on an anti-drug raid. Gunfire roared, and blades and danger surrounded them. Ignoring his own safety, he dragged her from the edge of hell and back into the world of the living.

One fleeting glimpse was enough to become an obsession for a lifetime.

After her rescue, seeds of admiration quietly took root in Shen Qianqian's heart. She watched Xie Jinci rush time and again to the perilous front lines: entering dense forests to surround and eliminate cross-border drug traffickers, going undercover in enemy camps for months at a time, dismantling tangled drug-trafficking networks, and foiling countless schemes with his courage and strategy. He earned one astonishing achievement after another. He was a hero who walked on the edge of a blade, a shield guarding the light in the hearts of countless people.

She admired his sincerity and bravery, and cherished the rare tenderness he showed after taking off his badge. Through the long years, Shen Qianqian kept a light burning in her quiet corner and waited, carrying her heartfelt love to him. They shared countless sweet moments: spending every moment together during brief leave, short calls across the distance between missions, ordinary walks and chats on bustling streets, and the little fragments of everyday life. Together, they made a tenderness that belonged only to them. Xie Jinci had seen darkness everywhere, but only with Shen Qianqian did he find the last warmth left in the world. Beyond his cold duty, she was the world he would give everything to protect.

Danger never strays far from the front lines of the anti-drug fight. At last, the final battle arrived. Cornered drug traffickers opened fire in a frenzy, bullets whistling past. In a split second between life and death, Xie Jinci shielded Shen Qianqian beneath him without hesitation, taking every bullet in his back and chest.

He completed his final mission, upheld his faith as an anti-drug police officer, and gave everything to protect the girl he cherished most. He remained forever amid the smoke and gunfire.

The world gave Shen Qianqian peace, but took away all her light. Without Xie Jinci, the world had no meaning, no matter how prosperous it was. Carrying every sweet memory they had made together, she followed her beloved into death.

A thousand years drifted by. Golden threads wound around threads of love. He protected the light of his country with his very flesh and blood, while she gave her life to a love that would last until death.

They could not share a long life, so they would be together in death.
