Luo Fu Bai was born into one of the insect race's most powerful aristocratic families. He was the only male larva of Lai Yin, a notorious and beautiful tyrant famous throughout the Imperial Capital.
Just when his male parent suspected he might never have a male larva, Luo Fu hatched. The good news was that his male parent probably wouldn't have another little male insect, leaving him to inherit the title of Duke Bai and all his wealth. The bad news was that his biological father died in battle three minutes after giving birth to him.
Lai Yin didn't care whether his female attendant died or not. He happily raised Luo Fu by his side, indulging the little male insect until he became utterly self-centered and did whatever he pleased.
Clearly, Luo Fu would follow in his ancestors' footsteps, spending three hundred years doing as he pleased and accomplishing nothing.
Until his third birthday, when he met that female insect in the garden.
Long, pale-gold hair like sunshine, and eyes that shimmered like scattered stars. Tall and handsome, he carried the cool, decadent beauty of a fading flower.
The dreamlike female insect was brought before him. His female lord said, “Lord Luo Fu, this is Haiseyin, a female insect from the Earl of Lunka's family. If you don't dislike him, tonight he will become your male parent's hundredth female attendant.”
Luo Fu blinked. A moment later, he heard his teeth scraping against the cake spoon with a clattering sound. Amid the female insects' cries of alarm, he pulled out the jade spoon.
The spoon snapped, leaving only its handle. The tip was smeared with blood, cream, saliva, and shards of jade.
A greedy, metallic sweetness filled the air.

As a dependable military female insect who had served for years, possessed exceptional talent, and earned outstanding military honors, Haiseyin believed he understood how insect society worked. But could someone please tell him what was going on with this soft, pale, milky-sweet little male insect who called him Uncle?
Wasn't the heir to the Duke of Bai supposed to be haughty and domineering? Wasn't he supposed to have an imposing presence that made other insects avert their eyes, even at such a young age?
The little male insect before him cut off a piece of ice cream cake, raised his fair little arm, and looked up at Haiseyin with a smile. “Uncle, Uncle, this is for you!” Flowers bloomed in the violet eyes that filled half his face, brimming with soft, childish anticipation.
By the time Haiseyin came to his senses, he had already accepted the cake and, under everyone's watchful eyes, scooped a small bite into his mouth.
Cool, sweet, and light. Just like the little male insect.
Could the male parent's terrible reputation have made the insects prejudge the little male insect? Otherwise, it would be terrifying for such a young male insect to be this good at putting on an act.
Haiseyin thought this with perfect equanimity, then gently patted the little male insect's head amid the many horrified stares.
