Synopsis
[I’m missing the ending and have no inspiration, so I’ll pause here for now. I’ll come back to fill in the gaps.]
Meng Suining is cool and self-possessed, as indifferent as a chrysanthemum. In reality, he loves scum-and-masochist melodramas, especially stories where the scumbag lets the protagonist go, suffers endlessly, then realizes the protagonist was the one all along. He especially loves the “crematorium” trope.
Until one unexpected incident takes things too far between him and his arch-enemy, and something goes wrong with his mind.
He thinks he’s an indecisive Omega, a stand-in for his husband’s first love. His husband uses him as a tool during heat, expects him to pave the way for his first love’s future, and loves neither him nor their child.
Zhou Xing: !!! I didn’t! Our cat son is still purring in my arms!
Then he says he’s a canary kept by a powerful man, the most low-maintenance of all his lovers. Just because he longs for the man’s true feelings, he’s completely abandoned and made to think about his place in the world in the icy lake.
Zhou Xing: (bubbling) ...Ningning! (bubbling) I can’t swim!
Finally, he’s the long-suffering wife who helps a domineering hero achieve his ambitions. After twenty years of silent devotion, a few words from a new lover count for more. He’s misunderstood and used, all his efforts and hardship serving only to dress someone else in wedding robes. In the end, he’s left mangled so his husband and someone else can be together.
Zhou Xing: Ningning, get down from the table first. You really need to trim your claws!

Zhou Xing was momentarily bewitched and botched his plan to confess his crush and win Meng Suining’s heart, making Meng Suining think he was a scumbag.
With no other choice, he’ll climb mountains of blades and plunge into seas of fire. As long as the “crematorium” burns hot enough, Ningning is bound to feel sorry for him!
First, he “betrays” his husband’s first love, then risks his life to save someone. He makes a heartfelt confession and begs for forgiveness in the ICU. After being granted permission to mark him for life, the two become... “roommates.”
He goes crazy searching all over the capital, praying to every god and unleashing his possessiveness. He lowers his head for love and willingly becomes a caged beast, finally getting to be Ningning’s... dog.
He levels up on his own and proposes in a blaze of glory. He drives off every demon and monster, works like an ox and a horse to win his wife back, then gets suspected of having a problem because he’s too clingy.

They went from childhood friends who were inseparable to enemies who can’t meet without arguing. No one knows what happened between them, not even Meng Suining, who can’t figure out what he did to make the other man hate him.
Until one unexpected incident.
Meng Suining vents his resentment through the script, but the other man seems to have unlocked some hidden meridian. He takes the hits without retaliating, and only talks back and licks him.
...?
What’s wrong with him?
Zhou Xing explains earnestly: “I used to say one thing and mean another because I was too cowardly. Later, I realized love really does take courage!”
Meng Suining: “Does having courage mean you don’t need any shame?”

[Highlight] Here’s a couplet for you first.
First line: Both pure, both inexperienced, each other’s first love, each other’s first kiss.
Second line: No splitting them up, no reversing the pairing, no dream ships, no self-inserts, no ship wars.
Horizontal inscription: May this sweet couple be lovey-dovey forever.
Disclaimer:
1. This story has no fantasy elements. His mental issue will be cured.
2. A silly, sweet two-man comedy, including elementary-school-level business warfare.
3. The recipient has tear ducts on overdrive and often floods the place with a straight face (get it?).
4. The pursuer has psychological trauma, which will be resolved in the middle and later parts. Please don’t scold him (and don’t scold me either).
5. The blurb is just a guide. The story itself isn’t melodramatic (there really is a “crematorium,” though).
Theme: Don’t let love be too cowardly
