In her sophomore year of college, Ren Ke'an met Fu Shiyu for the first time. The brakes failed on her shared bike. There was the downhill road, a rock in the way, and then a figure suddenly appeared at the bottom of the slope. Ren Ke'an's bike swerved, and she fell with it. She was so embarrassed she wanted to flee, but Fu Shiyu said, "Hey, I've got a bandage."
He also said, "Hey, here's my number."
And so their fates became entangled.
Fu Shiyu was an exceptional guide. Ren Ke'an's transformation from a naive girl into the accomplished woman she is today owes a great deal to him.
Ren Ke'an's first stirrings of love were for this man.
He said, "An'an, I can give you everything you want."
Then he said, "Except..."
The New Year's fireworks were too loud, and Ren Ke'an didn't hear the rest.
After that, they didn't see each other for five years.
When Ren Ke'an returned to the country, she got a call from Fu Shiyu.
He said, "I'm getting married tomorrow. Will you come?"
She said, "Congratulations."
"Will you come?"
"Ask me nicely."
He laughed as he used to, but called her name with a note of helplessness: "An'an."
"You'll come," he said with absolute certainty, then hung up.
