Cui Cui isn't human.

She's a kingfisher.

Every breeding season, female kingfishers seek a mate, show off their hunting skills, fall in love with him, and build a nest.

Then, the following season, they follow their kingfisher instincts and seek a new mate.

Cui Cui's first boyfriend was a chatterbox with a boyish charm. He was young, rich, and had adorable pointy canines when he smiled.

If he hadn't been so busy playing video games that he never had time to hang out with her, Cui Cui definitely would have hated to leave him.

But kingfishers have to find a new mate if they can't successfully reproduce, so sadly, she had no choice but to look for another.

Cui Cui's second boyfriend was a handsome, rational, reserved Buddhist gentleman from a prominent Beijing family. Fatherly boyfriends were all the rage at the time, and Cui Cui really liked him.

If he hadn't later revealed his intense need for control, and if being so popular with cats weren't Cui Cui's natural enemy, she definitely would have hated to leave him.

Cui Cui's third boyfriend was a tall, muscular hunk. His big muscles made her feel safe. He would grab Cui Cui to stop her from acting like a sasaeng fan, then rescue her from bird dealers.

If he hadn't started learning boxing for the sake of video games and accidentally hurt Cui Cui, she probably would have hated to leave him too.

Cui Cui's fourth boyfriend was a beautiful pink-haired man with lovely features and a somewhat gloomy air. He had a wonderful personality and loved spending money on her.

If he hadn't just lost his job and become a destitute pauper, Cui Cui would definitely have hated to leave him.

Cui Cui's eighth boyfriend was an internet cafe attendant. She loved him so, so, so, so, so much that she decided to invite him to mate with her.

But the internet cafe attendant had dreams to pursue too!

Well, while he was chasing his dreams, he managed to bring Cui Cui's first seven boyfriends together.

Sure, there were just enough of them to make two mahjong tables, but Cui Cui didn't think she was doing too well.

Because they all called her a heartbreaker.

But Cui Cui is just a little bird!
