The Wei clan establishes a new dynasty, names it Dali, and grants two clans unparalleled status.
The Luo clan of astrologers: descendants of the divine, able to divine the will of Heaven. They are named the Star Lords of Dali and granted everlasting honor.
The Qin clan of Dingzhou: brilliant military strategists with great achievements in battle. They are granted the title of Duke, passed down through the generations.
On the surface, the Wei, Luo, and Qin clans show respect between sovereign and subject. In truth, they are entangled in a web of old grudges and new feuds.
Seventy years later, Luo Jiaye succeeds to the position of Star Lord of Dali.
Before she sets out, the elders of her clan urge her again and again: "You must keep Qin Ximo alive, no matter the cost!"
After she arrives in Bianjing, Emperor Wei summons her to the palace by secret decree and says venomously, "I have suffered at the hands of the Qin clan for far too long. You must find a way to eliminate the last surviving member of the Qin family for me..."
[An astrologer who enters the game herself] VS [A seemingly gentle, secretly ruthless young duke]
The Qin clan of the Duke of Chengguo's household helped found the dynasty.
Unfortunately, their descendants are mediocre, and the once-glorious family grows steadily weaker.
One day, the young heir to the dukedom, who is neither accomplished in letters nor in arms and has terrible luck, is attacked by bandits on the road out of the capital. His guards are killed or wounded.
Remembering her elders' instructions, Luo Jiaye risks everything and hurries to save him.
But the man who had just looked deathly pale with fright suddenly turns around and presses a blade to her throat.
Qin Ximo smiles. "Star Lord, you got lucky last time. Why have you walked right into my hands this time?"
Luo Jiaye: ??? Weren't you supposed to be mediocre and timid? So I really can only mess with you when we're alone, huh?!
#Even a double agent can get played one day#
#Sometimes an ally being too clever isn't a good thing...#
At the beginning of the story, Qin Ximo racks his brains trying to kill this greedy, power-hungry, ruthless Star Lord of Dali with a single strike.
At the end, he holds a torch and, heedless of the condemnation of future generations, personally burns every written word that slanders her to ashes.
Notes:
1. Set in an age when magic is fading. The gods are only a legend to ordinary people. The history is fictional, with many original elements.
2. The male lead is a paragon of virtue. Read without worry.
3. They start out as complete strangers who test each other at every turn, so the romance comes later. Feelings need time to develop.
4. One-on-one romance, happy ending.
