Lu Tingye first met Su Yuruan at a rescue team camp on the edge of the rainforest.
Her white coat was buttoned to the very top. With a cold expression, she inspected the medical kit as if judging a group of patients.
He sauntered over with a cigarette in his mouth. "Doctor Su? You're so delicate. There won't be any shadowless lamps for you to use in the rainforest."
She didn't even raise her eyes. "And there won't be any disinfectant for me to use to give you an enema."
Everyone on the rescue team knew that Captain Lu feared nothing in the world, except Doctor Su and her needles.
Later, Lu Tingye was badly injured on a mission, and Su Yuruan cleaned his wound in the rainforest, with scarce medical supplies.
Sweating from the pain, he still managed to tease her. "Doctor Su, your hands are so soft."
Without changing her expression, she pressed down hard. He hissed, and her hand trembled, sending the cotton ball to the ground.
Later still, Lu Tingye went missing in the rainforest for seven days, and Su Yuruan searched for him like a madwoman.
When she found him, he was covered in blood, leaning against a tree root. He smiled at her. "Doctor Su, you came."
She rushed over, slapped him across the face, then held him tightly in her arms.
He winced in pain, but his eyes curved with a smile. "Su Yuruan, your hands are soft, but your heart is pretty ruthless."
Everyone thought Su Yuruan was just a passing visitor in Lu Tingye's life.
Until the man rumored to be brutally violent was carefully tying her shoelaces.
