A rainy day, a general store.
Rainwater gathered under the eaves and fell into puddles, sending out ripples.
"We're not right for each other."
"Why not?"
He just had to get to the bottom of it. So persistent.
"My family used to tell fortunes," Chi Wu said, staring at the hand he held out and tracing its lines absent-mindedly. She casually made up an excuse. "See this line? It says our fates are only briefly intertwined."
The surroundings fell silent for a moment, as if even the rain had stopped.
A moment later, he spoke. "Chi Wu."
She raised her eyes. In the dim rainy light, the boy's pupils were pitch-black and his bearing somber. He said only four words: "Do you trust me?"
The next second, he drew back his bloodied hand, the cuff of his sleeve damp in one small patch.
His voice carried the peculiar damp chill of a rainy day. ", We were made for each other."
No one could suit us better.

Chi Wu is a nail wrapped in velvet.
She's good at ingratiating herself with people. On the surface, she's wrapped in a pretty, delicate layer of sugar, and that lovely facade helps her get by no matter what situation she's in.
But keeping up the act gets tiring, at least a little. Until one day, someone saw through her disguise and recognized the nastiness hidden beneath the velvet.
Leaning against the railing, Chi Wu thought with an expressionless face:
