A Tycoon's Poverty Relief in the Millennium

Parallel world. Please don't treat this as reality.

Original title: A Tycoon, But I Only Spend Money on My Motherland

Her name is Qian Lai. She was abandoned at an orphanage as soon as she was born.

Raised by her country, she excelled in school and grew up determined to serve her homeland.

But fate had other plans. Before she could even graduate from university, she developed incurable cancer.

Other than regretting that she couldn't serve her country or support the orphanage matron in her old age, she didn't really have any regrets.

She spends her final days taking a break from school to tutor the children at the orphanage, and collapses from exhaustion. She should have died right there.

But then...

At death's door, she suddenly sits bolt upright. She's alive again!

Only something's not quite right: she's now mixed-race!

The good news: she's cured.

The bad news: she's in the Land of the Setting Sun, and she's half Chinese, half British.

She wakes up to find that she has transmigrated to Britain in 1994, and become mixed-race.

1994? Isn't that before China joined the WTO?

Wasn't its industry struggling through painful changes, with layoffs sweeping the country?

Qian Lai, a patriotic girl born and raised in China, is now a British citizen with mixed heritage and a huge inheritance?

Mixed-race, my foot! She wants to go home!

[Ding! Poverty Alleviation System activated. Host, please choose someone to nurture and bind to the System--]

"What?" Qian Lai looks stunned.

[Please choose a target to bind to. When the target achieves a series of milestones, the Host will receive life-span rewards.]

Qian Lai gets it. She's still alive because of the System!

[The target must possess any three of the following admirable qualities: poverty, resilience, optimism, ambition, humility...]

"How much time do I have left?" she asks.

[The Host's initial remaining lifespan is 60 days. Please choose a target to bind to as soon as possible and help them achieve various milestones.]

"I choose China!"

[...]

"You said China, didn't you? You never said it had to be a person! And who could be more reliable than our own mom?" Qian Lai fires back.

[Ding--]

[Poverty Alleviation System binding successful. Bound target: China]

[Tasks being adjusted.]

[Adjustment complete.]

[Poverty Alleviation Task 1: Choose a location and implement the Two Assurances and Three Guarantees program.]

[Please choose a location and work to develop it. Initial funding: 1 million pounds.]

Qian Lai looks at the incredible string of digits in her account, unsure how many zeros there are. And it's in pounds, too! Without a second thought, she books a ticket back to her motherland.

Invest?

Of course she has to invest in her own mom!

Mom! She's coming home!

A few notes before the story begins:

1. Required opening details

2. The story will begin once it reaches 500 bookmarks

3. A satisfying power fantasy with nation-building. The System creates the female lead's body and implants her identity.
