An AI Friend of Mine

Shi Yonghe's first week at UWL was frustrating and lonely.

He heard that the lab was going to beta-test an AI chat System, so he hurriedly wrote down the AI account.

Gu Zhuo was the campus heartthrob. His official university work account was already swamped with friend requests, so he had no choice but to make a private account.

That evening, Gu Zhuo's quiet personal account received a friend request.

Shi: Hi!

01: ?

Shi: No wonder you're doing a beta test... For an AI, you're incredibly rude.

01: Can I help you?

Shi: The campus is so big I can't find my way around. The cafeteria food is awful, the subway is filthy and stinks, and I have to climb three flights of stairs to get to class. My IELTS score is great, but my spoken English is terrible.

01: I think you've got the wrong person. I'm not an AI.

Shi: You awful artificial intelligence. The way you brush me off is so human. I don't have any friends here. I miss home so much.

Gu Zhuo sighed. Maybe it was concern for a fellow countryman, or maybe it was because of his fellow countryman's beautiful eyes.

01: I've uploaded an electronic map. The food at counter two in the South Cafeteria is passable. You can't avoid the smell, but you could try wearing a mask. There's an elevator on the west side of the teaching building. Speaking skills take an environment and practice.

01: I'll be your friend.

With the help of his AI friend, Shi Yonghe gradually got used to his new life abroad. Even when he ran into problems the AI couldn't solve, senior Gu Zhuo would appear like a divine reinforcements from heaven. Besides, the senior didn't seem entirely straight.

Shi Yonghe gradually fell for him and started discussing matters of the heart with the AI.

One day, Shi Yonghe heard someone at the lab groan, "The debugging failed again." Confused, he messaged the AI, and Gu Zhuo's phone vibrated at the same time.

Shi: I hate Gu Zhuo.
