[Radiant female author vs. reserved male voice actor] + [Gluttonous fat cat]
The vet says the cat's too fat and its heart can't take it, so Yu Dai decides to put it on a diet. After half a month of hard work, the cat finally loses two pounds, only to suddenly gain them back. She stares speechlessly at the fat cat stuck in the garden fence.
Once she rescues it, Yu Dai is shocked to find an ID tag around its neck and a strange scent on its fur.
Yu Dai: Huh? Do you have another home?
Gu Yunqing has just left the voice acting studio and stops by a pet shop to buy treats for the greedy cat. Suddenly, he gets a call from an unfamiliar number. A young woman with a lovely voice asks, "Um... do you know a big, fat blue-and-white cat?"
At a cafe, a man and a woman compare notes to clear up the mix-up.
Gu Yunqing: I feed stray cats in the neighborhood. It bolted out of the bushes and one cat wolfed down four sausages. (Thinking: It looked like it hadn't eaten in three days.)
Yu Dai: It's too fat, so I was trying to help it lose weight.
Gu Yunqing: I fed it for three days straight. I thought it didn't have an owner, so I dewormed it, bathed it, and took it home. Wait, I closed the door when I left.
Yu Dai: If the window isn't locked, it can open it.
Gu Yunqing: So it's been eating at both our places all this time?!
Yu Dai: Looks that way.
Only after comparing notes do they realize Gu Yunqing is the new neighbor. Yu Dai offers to pay him back, but the kindhearted neighbor waves her off.
Yu Dai's first impression of her new neighbor: handsome + loves animals + quiet + ice-cold expression.
Yu Dai writes online novels. Thanks to a perfect combination of timing, location, and circumstances, she rose to become a top romance author a few years ago. A radio drama adaptation of one of her works is now in production. The night before visiting the studio, she gets curious and clicks on the male lead's voice actor's livestream. As soon as she enters, she hears a song with an incredibly masculine vibe... "Fan Dance"? It's got quite a beat.
Before entering the studio, Yu Dai had always thought the voice actor playing the male lead would be a peacock. Then she walks up to the recording booth and sees her aloof, icy neighbor reading his lines.
Yu Dai: Wow, what a contrast.
Gu Yunqing is a well-known voice actor in the industry, with a versatile voice and a long list of notable roles. After two years in the business, he finally lands the male lead role in a radio drama adaptation of a writer he loves.
When he hears that the author he admires is coming to visit the studio and shoot promotional material, Gu Yunqing is so excited he doesn't sleep a wink. The next day, he ducks into the recording room with dark circles under both eyes.
Later on, Gu Yunqing will regret countless times that he acted so aloof at the cafe. Just when he doesn't know how to salvage his image, he looks up and sees a fat cat pawing at the window.
Cat: Human, open the door. I'm here for a snack.
P.S. The cat will always love the female lead most. It won't like the male lead any more just because he gives it extra food. No one is based on a real person. The cat only cares about character profiles.
Theme: Long live cats!
