Shi Lan was the classic "other people's child."
Obedient, sensible, good grades, pretty.
After a while, she even fooled herself, until a boy pulled her back from the edge of a rooftop and told her, "Someone will love the real you."
She believed him.
But on the day she went to register for university, he disappeared.
Shi Lan didn't react hysterically. She went on with her life as usual, going to class, eating, and taking part in activities.
A boy from her club confessed to her. She politely turned him down, but he spread rumors that she was a fake prude who kept a rich sugar daddy.
He said he'd seen her get into a luxury car at night all the time, so she must have found herself a sugar daddy.
He Weiyi fastened her seat belt for her. Shi Lan smiled as she told him about it. He sighed helplessly. "You can still laugh about that?"
Shi Lan toyed with her freshly done manicure, smiled brightly, and lifted his chin. "Why shouldn't I laugh? If I'm acting, I might as well do it well, Daddy."
Reader's Note*
The story is set around retaking the college entrance exam, and the characters are adults from the beginning!
The first forty chapters were written four years ago. Please be patient if you find them lacking. You'll see the writing improve later. I also wanted to document my own growth.
