Fake top scholar vs. gloomy ex-wife

Chen Ji, a modern-day ordinary guy, transmigrates into Chen Boyu, the newly appointed top scholar of the Great Sheng dynasty.

He thought he’d become the hero of a wish-fulfillment story, but instead he’s become the body of a scumbag who’s already dead.

He can’t write essays, hold office, follow court etiquette, or recognize his colleagues. He can’t even reproduce his own handwriting.

His ex-wife is gentle and dignified in public, always lowering her eyes and obeying, but beneath the surface she’s full of schemes.

The original owner was a hapless gay man who, at the first sign of success, dumped the person he loved, then picked the wrong side and offended a powerful minister.

Chen Ji originally thought he’d been handed the “scumbag wins back his wife” script.

Only later did he realize that his ex-wife didn’t want to win him back at all. She just wanted him dead.

Chen Ji: “Chiwei, what am I supposed to do without you?”

Chen Ji: “That’s right, Chen Boyu is so proud he’d rather die. But I’m just an ordinary guy. I’m afraid to die and have no shame!”

Chen Ji: “All he gave you was a divorce letter and a grave. I’m alive and standing right here. Do you want me or not?”

An old love sends a willow branch as a farewell. The living exchange willow branches as a promise.

The old home can’t be returned to, but spring can still come.

One-on-one, happy ending, exile to Lingnan. This story came about after my previous submission for a contract got killed and I got writer’s block on the sweet romance next door. It’s just for practice and for the sake of indulging in a little angst...

1. Main couple: Chen Ji x Gu Zheliu, with Chen Ji as the attacker and Gu Zheliu as the receiver.

2. The receiver has it very rough. Really rough. He’s a condemned commoner, and his entire clan’s lives are at stake. Be warned.
