I Can’t Forget the Times I Longed for You

After they broke up, Lin Yun always appeared calm and unconcerned to the outside world. When people brought up Gu Bai, she'd offer a faint smile and casually say she'd moved on long ago.

She deleted every photo of them together, blocked his contact information, avoided the streets they'd once walked side by side, and forced herself to break every habit connected to him. During the day, she was composed and capable at work, filling her schedule to the brim and trying to cut that relationship completely out of her life. Everyone thought that love, which had come to nothing, had long since been smoothed away by time.

Only in the silent depths of the night would Lin Yun face her true feelings.

Sometimes, hearing an old song, passing a streetlamp, or tasting a familiar dish would send her thoughts drifting helplessly toward Gu Bai. She could stop herself from asking about his life, stop herself from reaching out again, and keep her longing buried deep inside, never letting it show. But she could never stop the sudden waves of yearning that overtook her in countless moments.

There had been no bitter arguments and no falling out. They had simply drifted apart in silence, slowly becoming strangers who no longer disturbed each other's lives. There was no unbearable pain, only a lingering, endless regret.

Over the years that followed, Lin Yun met countless people and saw countless sights, yet no one could stir her emotions as easily as Gu Bai. Time could smooth over disagreements and hurt, but it could not erase the longing etched into her heart.

She had deceived her friends and family, deceived time itself, and pretended to hurry forward into a new life.

But when midnight came and her feelings surged, she had to admit: she could let go of anything, but she had never been able to forget a single moment when she thought of Gu Bai.
