One night, I stared blankly at his brooding features in the firelight.
I couldn't understand how we had ended up here. Did it begin with this abduction, tainted by selfish motives, or even earlier, with that utterly disastrous first meeting?
I didn't understand. Or perhaps we were always bound to end up together, because the relentless typhoons had raged for far too long, and we happened to meet right in the eye of the storm.
The air around us churned in a violent rush. It felt as though if I took one step outside, my legs, my heart, even my sanity would all be swept into an abyss from which there was no return.
And yet, somehow, we were both so calm.
You made your choice and walked into the storm without hesitation. I watched you shoulder shackles far too heavy to bear. I watched you get dragged into endless pain and struggle. I watched you lose your way and cry, yet keep walking.
Until I could no longer see you.
What lies beyond the storm? Have you found true peace?
Was my choice the right one? Where do I go from here?
