This is a story told from the perspective of Scarlett Wednoss, a Muggle living in the Middle Ages.
In medieval England, the Ministry of Magic had yet to be established. Wizards were loosely governed by local wizarding associations and often used magic openly, leaving the entire Wizarding World in danger of exposure. As plague ravaged the land, the English lost faith in the Church. To divert blame, the clergy used “purging witches” as a pretext to launch witch hunts that would last for centuries. During this turbulent period, dark wizards rose to power and wreaked havoc everywhere, while the wizarding associations were powerless to stop them. The conflict between wizards and Muggles grew increasingly intense. It was the darkest period in the History of Magic in Britain.
