Lin Cixian is a half-baked Taoist priest. After his master disappears under mysterious circumstances, he has no choice but to ask the people at the Investigation Bureau to let him join, so he can look into the case of his master's disappearance.

The Investigation Bureau assigns him a mission: go into the Grudge Realm and rescue someone.

The man's name is An Ling. The first time Lin Cixian sees him, he's completely covered by a white cloak, like a snow lotus standing alone in the quiet. Even Lin Cixian, a completely straight man, feels his heart leap for no reason.

He'd thought that once he joined the Investigation Bureau, he'd be able to focus on finding his master. But things don't go as he hoped. Not long after escaping the Grudge Realm, Lin Cixian is forced to deal with a baffling unsolved case, a starving ghost seeking justice, an escaped hanging ghost, and one mess after another. The tangled web leaves him at a complete loss.

At least he has a strong partner like An Ling by his side.

An Ling is kind and doesn't say much. Just having him around makes people feel safe. He's also rescued Lin Cixian from danger time and again.

Just as Lin Cixian realizes his feelings for An Ling aren't entirely innocent, he discovers that An Ling has another identity. This leaves him troubled, and even a little regretful about the silly peacock-like displays he'd put on in front of An Ling.

He starts avoiding An Ling.

But when they're trapped and Lin Cixian has no choice but to use a spell that harms his body, An Ling drags him into a secluded corner once they get out. He almost loses his temper and smashes the wall beside them.

That's when Lin Cixian finally lets go of his pride and comes right out with it.

"Listen, do you know that I like you?"

An Ling's hand stops mid-swing. He stares at Lin Cixian without blinking.

Lin Cixian grins, pulls off An Ling's hood, and kisses him on the forehead.

An Ling is completely stunned.

After everything is revealed, Lin Cixian has a day with nothing to do and starts grilling An Ling.

"When I confessed to you, why did you make that face?"

An Ling gently removes Lin Cixian's hand from his shoulder. His voice is unchanged. "You still didn't remember me then."

"Ooh, are you jealous?" Lin Cixian laughs loudly.

An Ling serves the porridge he's made and carries it to the table. Lin Cixian is about to take the bowl, but An Ling scoops him up with one arm.

"What are you doing?! Don't tell me...?!"

"It's not the first time."

"What the hell, you're serious?!"
