This short novel will probably be around 200,000 characters. It tells the story of how Ling Guang ushered in a golden age for Dongyuan.
She is a king, born to rule, proud and untamed, never once bowing her head.
She marches east into the land of death and expands westward to the vast seas. Wherever her iron hooves tread, a thousand enemies scatter.
She is a king. A king does not doubt, a king does not weep, a king does not turn back.
Yet even one so proud and aloof has shielded the weak from the wind, prayed for the sick, and kept vigil over the dead. At the edge of the desert, she lit a beacon fire; atop the sacred mountain, she sang aloud, hoping only to find her people a path to a better future.
Later, the ancient mountain spirit stood upon the summit, a heavenly tribulation's light hanging above his head. He said:
"In this age, there is a king named Ling Guang. With her own hands, she cleaved through the bitter cold and trampled the long night, forging a golden age for Dongyuan."
Ling Guang has twelve generals at her side, known as the Twelve Drifting Flower Riders of Dongyuan. Each is a woman with her own distinct personality.
Foremost among them, without question, is Hai Ling Juan Yu. She is Ling Guang's right-hand woman, and the only person who dares call her by name and whom Ling Guang calls a friend.
But she wasn't Ling Guang's friend from the beginning. During the conquest of the eight kingdoms, Ling Guang suffered losses, grew, and changed. Juan Yu was the one who taught her that even the Lord of the Abyss can cry, that weeping is not weakness, and that the scars left by pain are proof of strength.
"Ling Guang, when you cry, you look more like a king."
* All-female ensemble cast
* While writing bonus chapters, I found my outline growing longer and longer, so I decided to make it a separate book. It should follow The Mage.
