I’m always the third person in a relationship.
In my happy family with my parents and older sister, I was always the odd one out.
My best friend had other friends too. I was never her first choice.
Even the boy I fell for at first sight, Yuta Okkotsu from the hospital room next door, already had a childhood friend, Rika, before I ever met him.
Why, why, why? Why?
I could only pretend I didn’t care and play the third person in their relationship.
The peacemaker, the messenger, the trusted confidant caught in the middle.
Until Okkotsu became all alone.
With red-rimmed eyes, he said to me helplessly, “Rika died. What should I do...?”
So cute.
Like a stray dog that had lost its way.
So I pretended to mention it casually: “What? You still have me.”
Because I’ve never had it,
I want to experience being someone’s one and only at least once.
The blurb may say this for now, but the story I write will absolutely be about mutual pining.
A short-to-medium story to ease the pain of a love that has to be kept hidden.
*The main text is in first person. Please take note if that’s not your thing.
*The pairing is with Okkotsu.
Theme: Love means learning to cherish what you have.
