Synopsis
Just as she finally finished the college entrance exams, Jiang Nongruo is caught in a shoddy construction accident and sent to the world of cultivation. Apparently, she triggered the transmigration trope and became an important figure coveted by demons.
After Xie Jinyi saves her several times, grateful Jiang Nongruo decides to grant him one wish.
Xie Jinyi glances at her earnest little face, thinks for a while, then sincerely says, "Please do me a favor and kill me."
"?" She has never heard such an infuriating request!
Jiang Nongruo thinks he's crazy and throws a flower basket at his smiling face.
As they spend more time together, Jiang Nongruo discovers that Xie Jinyi isn't just crazy, he's also a hypocrite who says one thing and does another. Don't think she doesn't know that the haughty little black cat is him.
He acts like a cool, aloof guy in public, but when they're alone, he turns into a little cat, rubbing against her and meowing.
By day, he inexplicably keeps his distance and tells her to go like someone else. By night, he secretly turns into a cat and whines as he cuddles up to her.
A cat's feelings are so hard to figure out.
What's more, years later, even after he's turned to ashes, he still manages to drag her into rumors. Faced with the baffling suspicion that she killed her husband to attain the Dao, Jiang Nongruo, now the Venerable Zunzhe of Ruohua, grits her teeth and sneers. "My Dao companion was determined to die. I merely helped him along."
Xie Jinyi was born amid blood-soaked expectations, carrying the future of an entire world on his shoulders.
His heart doesn't belong to him. He is waiting for her return.
To get close to her is to draw near the fate of inevitable death.
But he can't hold back, and he welcomes it wholeheartedly.

Coming soon: So I'm Wang Sheng?
[A derivative inspired by the original Painted Skin]
You wake up to red candles blazing and a warm, fragrant bedchamber.
You've transmigrated into your wedding night and become the groom.
You feel around down there. Good, nothing strange has grown.
Good news: You haven't changed sex.
Bad news: The beautiful woman in ancient dress beside you is gazing at you shyly.
You decide to give up and close your eyes, taking the beauty's hand and placing it below your waist to prove that you're an adorable girl too.
The beauty pats you with sympathy and understanding, telling you that being small is fine, and manliness doesn't depend on it.
You and your wife live together like respectful guests. She pities you for your inferiority complex and takes the initiative to sleep in a separate room, never realizing you're a woman disguised as a man.
One day, while wandering in the woods, you come across a wounded young man being pursued. His ink-black hair flows over his shoulders, partly covering his picturesque features, and a beauty mark beneath the corner of his eye is captivating.
You remember not to bring strange men home.
But he's so beautiful, and so pitiful.
You can't bear to leave him there, so you take him home and hide him in the secret room in your study, planning to send him on his way once he's recovered.
But the news gets out, and rumors spread throughout the city that you're a gay man secretly keeping a male courtesan.
A bright idea strikes you. You decide to use this as a chance to ask your wife for a divorce and reclaim your freedom.
Grateful for your kindness, the young man agrees to put up with the rumors and pretend to be your lover.
And so you live a life envied by all, with a virtuous wife at your side and a male concubine in your arms.
Until one day, a Taoist priest stops you in the street.
"You are surrounded by evil energy and will soon face a bloody disaster."
You ignore the charlatan and walk around him.
"Death approaches, yet you still don't understand."
The Taoist shakes his head and walks away.
You keep shopping, hearing a storyteller repeat the names "Zhang Sheng" and "Li Sheng."
As if struck by lightning, you ask your servant what your surname is.
The servant is just as shocked. "Young master, have you gone senile? Your surname is Wang."
You laugh in frustration. A scholar named Wang can also be called Wang Sheng.
You refuse to give up. That night, you circle around to the window of your study. Through a crack, you see a mass of bloody flesh painting on a huge human skin. The portrait is lifelike, and the creature finishes it by adding a beauty mark beneath the eye.
The creature drapes the skin over itself, transforming into the refined young man. Beneath the dim lamplight, he smiles gently at you through the window. "Would you like to come in and watch?"
So you really are Wang Sheng.
If Wang Sheng is a woman and the Painted Skin demon is a man, that's not strange at all.
But now isn't the time to complain about the plot.
The problem is that you've transmigrated into Wang Sheng, and your chest is about to be cut open and your heart torn out.
Couple: An absurd, fun-loving weirdo x a gentle, mad demon
Theme: Cherish all living things and keep the greater good in your heart.
