Emma is tired of her marriage to Charles Bovary.
He cannot understand her piano playing, make sense of her paintings, or notice how she feels.
He “loves” her, a young, beautiful woman who waits on him and keeps the household running smoothly.
How cruelly he treated his previous wife.
She should have seen it sooner. After their wedding, Charles stood with his hands in his pockets, waiting for her to pick the weeds off her own dress.
Good heavens, why did she marry him?
She wants to die. She also wants to go to Paris.
If things could have gone another way, might she have met someone else?
Someone handsome, perceptive, intelligent, and influential.
She wants to escape this lifeless existence.
She made a deal with the devil.
The price was that her life would have no end from then on. She would have to transmigrate through time and space forever.
But to Emma, that is a good thing.
Whoever wants the life she had before can have it!
She is about to start a new life!
