The protagonist, Chen Kuan, is an utterly ordinary, if somewhat eccentric, young man attending university. As a child, he could see things that ordinary people couldn't. The pendant he always wore around his neck was a safety charm given to him by his grandmother. At her funeral, he secretly took off the pendant and saw a strange figure. From then on, he and his best friend traveled far and wide, relying on those eyes from hell to investigate and record one strange incident after another.
