(A domineering, dragon-like top with a wife-doting System x a beautiful transmigrated-into-a-book bottom who just wants to stay alive)
(School’s starting, so I’m a bit busy these days and updates may be irregular. I’ll go back to daily updates once this week is over! I’ve added a few content warnings at the end of the blurb and in the announcement section!)
Xie Jinyu transmigrated into a badly concluded cultivation novel about breaking off an engagement. He became a character who shared his name, the male lead’s younger brother-in-law, whom the male lead chopped to pieces.
And by that, I mean he was literally cut in half before being written out!
His older sister was engaged to the male lead, Ye Zhilan. But, like every cliché engagement-breaking novel, Ye Zhilan came to break off the engagement after losing all his cultivation.
Once Ye Zhilan returned to the peak of his power, the entire Xie family was slaughtered. Not even the old or the children were spared!
Cruel, right? That’s why the novel had such a terrible ending!
The male lead was so bloodthirsty that he killed every named character in the book, regardless of age or gender. He topped both the Most Despicable Male Lead and Most Beastly Male Lead rankings, and was even dubbed an honorary outstanding member of the Ruthless Dao.
The author said there was no way to salvage the character, so they openly gave the novel a terrible ending!
Like any uninvolved bystander, Xie Jinyu had angrily complained about the author’s poor writing and confidently declared that he could fix the character himself.
And then he transmigrated into the book...
He could complain all he wanted, but once he was really there, staying alive came first!
To make it to the end without getting cut in half, Xie Jinyu decided to cling to the male lead.
The first step was getting close to him. So when Xie Jinyu heard his sister and the family elders discussing breaking off the engagement, he immediately stepped forward and shouted, “Don’t break it off! I’ll marry him!”
Ye Zhilan was reborn. When he was only one step away from becoming a god, he returned to the day he lost all his cultivation and had his engagement broken off.
A fellow called the “System” told him that readers disliked him because he was too bloodthirsty, so the author was rewriting the novel and adding the most popular trope around: a wife-doting System!
“Cultivate alongside your wife: + cultivation.”
“Dote on your wife in all sorts of ways: + cultivation.”
“Dual cultivate with your wife: + cultivation.”
Ye Zhilan was mortified...
He was about to break off his engagement. Where was he supposed to get a wife?
Unexpectedly, in this life the Xie family didn’t break off the engagement. When the bridal sedan stopped, the person who stepped out was the younger brother-in-law, dressed in a wedding robe.
System: Your wife is here.
Ye Zhilan: ...
Xie Jinyu discovered that clinging to the male lead was easy.
He stuck by the male lead through meals of coarse grain and plain vegetables, and when the male lead stumbled upon an opportunity later, Xie Jinyu got a share too. He helped the male lead chase off a snobbish nobody who came looking for trouble, and when the male lead later obtained precious treasures and pills, Xie Jinyu got half.
The male lead was also so considerate that even though Xie Jinyu was a restless sleeper who tossed and turned all night, he would wake up in the male lead’s arms the next morning. The male lead never got annoyed and simply let him sleep there in peace.
Later, Xie Jinyu gradually grew bolder. His body was naturally yin, and when winter came, the cold made his bones ache. He pouted at the male lead, who had a naturally yang constitution. “Husband, I’m so cold. Could you hold me?”
“Of course.”
After Ye Zhilan agreed, Xie Jinyu was delighted. Then he saw Ye Zhilan taking off his clothes and panicked. “Husband, what are you doing?”
“Dual cultivation works better.”
“Actually, there’s no need to go to all that trouble. I can put up with it!”
“But I can’t.” Ye Zhilan pushed Xie Jinyu onto the bed. The desire in his eyes was impossible to ignore. “Xiaoyu, we’ve been married for six months. I’ve been holding back for six months, too.”
That night, Xie Jinyu’s naturally yin constitution was successfully cured. The bad news was that his back and butt were wrecked.
Xie Jinyu lay face-down on the bed, miserable. Wasn’t he supposed to be an honorary outstanding member of the Ruthless Dao? What was ruthless about this? Their love was practically spilling out!
1. The couple are both pure, with no exes, no one-sided loves, and no ambiguous relationships. They’re pure in both body and heart!
2. The bottom looks the same before and after transmigrating into the book. This will come up later, but I wanted to mention it now.
3. The bottom is somewhat of a heartthrob, but there are no rivalry-for-love melodramas. After they leave the Ye family in Chapter Nine, it’s a story about the married couple adventuring through the world. They’re devoted to each other (I swallowed the key), with very strong romantic feelings!
4. This novel contains a very high, extremely high amount of male-male romance, so high it could be called a world of universal love. The only heterosexual couple is the protagonists’ parents (they’re both dead and won’t be described in detail). The outline is finished, and I don’t plan to add anything else, so please don’t read if that’s not for you.
Theme: True love knows no rank.
