Sean Wolfe spent twelve years acting to find his missing mother, getting close to the centers of power in his search for the truth.
Just as the story reached a crucial point, some blond kid suddenly appeared and told him his mother had died years ago.
The kid was bright and clever, able to navigate the online world without any external tools. The municipal systems were his playground. Anyone could see that he didn't belong in this filthy city.
And, for some reason, he had the fixed idea that Sean was a good person, and wouldn't leave his side.
So what if he stuck around? Sean had his own reasons for letting him.
With death close at hand and the truth finally revealed, Sean decided to play the "good guy" for once.
He said, "You've got a long life ahead of you. Go find something you enjoy."
The blond kid said, "I like you."
Sean thought it was just the pure-heartedness of youth, and felt he couldn't take advantage of him.
But fate wouldn't leave him alone. Twelve years later, its claws reached for the person he loved once again.
This time, Sean finally had the power to fight back. He wouldn't let fate do whatever it wanted anymore.
The world is Mount Olympus to a select few. The System is controlled by the "gods" and can no longer function properly.
Ordinary people eke out a living with technological patches. Their food is engineered, their bodies are engineered, and their thoughts may be engineered too.
But that's all right. A spark has begun to shine in the shadows, and the System is about to reboot.

Notes and content warnings:
1. Younger top, equally matched leads.
2. My take on cyberpunk and mecha, plot-focused, against building a utopia.
3. The main pairing is BL. Other sexualities include, but aren't limited to, same-sex, heterosexual, and human/nonhuman relationships.
4. The setting is entirely fictional. Please don't map it onto or draw conclusions about reality.
5. Characters swear as part of their characterization. Readers with strong sensibilities are advised to read with caution.
6. This story will be completed. Updates are usually every other day, sometimes daily when inspiration strikes. (If I don't update, I won't announce it either, since no one's reading anyway, orz.)
Theme: What form must humanity take to still be called human?
