Synopsis
A short story of 200,000 characters
Blurb One:
The Kang family is a prominent clan in Jingbei. As the eldest son, Kang Punian has always followed tradition, even letting his family choose the most suitable spouse for him from within their circle.
He didn't resist at all. It was only marriage, after all. Naturally, he should choose a woman who would benefit the family and manage the household well.
After they married, he gradually developed feelings for his young wife. She was gentle and obedient, cultured and sensible, and proper in everything she did. But the blushing and bashful side she showed when she let her guard down was incredibly adorable.
He thought he could be happy spending the rest of his life with someone like her.
Until the first time they came together in bed, when his wife, in his arms, blurted out another man's name:
Tang Jitong.
He knew him. He was Tang Shuhe's brother, though they had different parents.
Blurb Two:
Tang Shuhe was adopted by the Tang family. Her parents died trying to save the family, and the Tangs took her in, raising her in their home.
From then on, she went from being Li Shuhe to being Tang Shuhe.
Tang's mother could no longer have children, so the marriage naturally fell to her. Her behavior, her future, everything about her had been carefully planned since she was fifteen, all for the sake of a man she had only ever seen in newspapers.
They said she owed her very life to the Tang family, and that she would even get to marry one of Jingbei's most powerful heirs. Her life had been smooth sailing; she was so lucky.
She thought it was ridiculous. Apparently, a life like hers counted as lucky.
She had no freedom. This heart was the only thing that belonged to her. In this absurd world, Tang Jitong was the only one who truly cared about her and considered what was best for her.
It seemed only natural that she would fall for him.
But she also knew they could never be together. When she was twenty-four, Tang Jitong went overseas on business, and she stayed in Jingbei and married that man.
After the wedding, she could at least pretend to be gentle and considerate, always proper and mindful of her place. Even when he was caught up in a scandal, she would only smile and say, "It's fine. I trust him."
Until Kang Punian discovered the secret she had buried deep in her heart.
He seemed angry, but she didn't care at all. She hated the Tang family and the Kang family. She even secretly hoped he would divorce her and find a better match.
But he didn't. After two months of letting things drag on, he said he wanted to make a real life with her.
She thought he was crazy.
Just looking at his face reminded her of everything the Tang family had done to her over the past decade, and of the brother who hadn't even come to her wedding. How could she possibly build a life with a man like that?
It was utterly disgusting.
So she ran, fleeing without a second thought.
She thought he had forgotten about her. But a month later, while buying something at the convenience store downstairs, she suddenly saw a familiar Maybach.
It was Kang Punian's car.

Reader's Guide:
1. The heroine really loves her brother, and he loves her too. But he is a supporting character, and they will not end up together. They are not related by blood and have never been on the same household register. There is no romance between them while any family relationship exists.
2. The male lead is a virgin, and he's a twisted, dark, obsessive man who is purely instinctively attracted to the heroine.
3. This is another story of taking someone by force, and can barely be called a marriage-before-love story.
4. I might change the names if I think of better ones, but the story framework won't change.
5. Note added on June 23, 2026.
Theme: I belong to myself
