Su Chi is an ordinary ghost hunter, commonly known as a Taoist priest.
In a world overrun by evil spirits, he still struggles to make ends meet. At last, after many trials and tribulations, he joins the national ghost-hunting team to earn a living.
On his very first mission, he encounters something baffling: a strange ghost.
This ghost seems to have a human consciousness. Not only does it refrain from hurting Su Chi, it even saves him. Grateful, Su Chi lets it go.
Then Su Chi discovers that the ghost has started sticking to him!
Whenever Su Chi goes on a mission, he can always spot it wandering nearby. It even lends a hand when he runs into trouble.
This gets Su Chi, a ghost hunter, so excited that he stops it and asks, "Why do you show up every time? What's your name?"
"My name is Yan Zhen Du. I used to... I think I was human."
The moment Su Chi hears that, he gets an idea. He takes Yan Zhen Du back to headquarters for research.
After studying it, everyone discovers that this ghost really doesn't harm humans, but it definitely didn't come from a human transforming into a ghost. Still, it can be used on missions, since it's incredibly strong.
So... Su Chi takes Yan Zhen Du home.
There's no reason to turn down government subsidies. A living still costs money.
Somehow, the two of them end up living together...
Su Chi discovers that Yan Zhen Du is like a little old man. If Su Chi doesn't tell him to do something, he can sit on the sofa all day.
Even when Su Chi does tell him... he doesn't seem to understand very well.
Su Chi: "Go to your room, get into bed, and go to sleep."
"Wait, why are you coming into my room?"
Yan Zhen Du: "Didn't you tell me to get into bed?"
"I'm scared to sleep alone. I want to sleep with you..."
Su Chi: "You're a ghost yourself! What have you got to be scared of? I think you just want to..."
Yan Zhen Du: "I just want to take advantage of you."
