In biology, star sand doesn't come from stars in the sky. It is formed by a single-celled marine organism called a foraminifer. They live briefly in the deep sea, for around a year and a half, and after they die, their calcium shells accumulate into tiny, star-shaped grains.
But He Jinxixi always believed that star sand was the faint light made when stars fell from the sky onto the seashore.
She felt like someone trapped inside a glass dome, able to see the outside but unable to make her voice heard.
She wished that one day, like a message in a bottle, someone who cared would find her.
"And discover it was filled with starlight."
She had been piled up on the beach all this time, waiting for the tide to surge in.
"He likes someone."
"Oh? So do I."
The wind by the sea is a blue love letter.
Eight years of time.
The sunlight is still as fine and fragmented as it was that day.
Like the unsent letters in her drawer, their words slowly blurred over the damp years.
"He Jinxixi, we're not children anymore. When will you stop being so willful? Not everyone will wait for you in the same place."
"What are you talking about?"
Is our relationship really as he says it is? No, no. When someone decides to distance themselves from another person, it's not hard to find an excuse.
Then he suddenly said, "And I've been waiting all this time for you to come closer to me."
This is a love letter I wrote to myself. I don't know if any of you will understand it. I'll just enjoy writing it, haha.
Theme: Star sand is luminous dust from the deep sea.
