Han Sheng is a veteran criminal police captain: calm, disciplined, and law-abiding. His life's motto is to play it safe.
One day, he opens his eyes and finds himself kidnapped into Threshold Space Station.
Just as he steels his nerves and prepares to fight his way through, a lazy programmer named Ji Minghua appears beside him.
The guy seems unreliable. His mouth never stops running, and he can outtalk the monsters in the station. His first reaction to any problem is to slack off and give up, and he never repeats himself when complaining.
Strangely, he always manages to find the way out and spot clues through the hazy mist.
Han Sheng stares at the gruesome corpse and chain of code before him, unable to believe it: It's all fake. I'm a materialist.
Ji Minghua spreads his hands. "My materialist officer, believe it or not, you're going to have to accept it now."
The two set out to gather mental energy and prevent themselves from becoming data. Han Sheng charges ahead, controls the battlefield, deals with data-born ghosts, and saves people when things go wrong. Ji Minghua slacks off and cracks jokes at his side, occasionally reaching out to save Han Sheng when he's about to bite the dust.
Their clashing personalities and wildly different styles somehow give rise to an unusual understanding, helping them escape danger time and again.
The Mirror Maze, the Honey Pot Ants, the Black Rose Manor, the Moon-Hidden Theater... Each eerie, terrifying station makes the two work together more seamlessly, but there seem to be plenty of mysteries hidden beneath the surface.
Ji Minghua's unusual data transformation, the strange red code that keeps appearing, Han Sheng's inexplicable lost memories... Is it all a coincidence, or has it been planned all along?
Everyone who has gathered enough mental energy has vanished, and ever since the space station appeared, no one has managed to destroy it. Is this because the challengers are powerless, or because its creators intended it that way?
Han Sheng: "Ji Minghua, you should know the answer to this."
Ji Minghua, utterly shameless: "Darling~ You know I've been with you since you were fifteen. How could I know anything?"
Han Sheng: "Shut up. We get out first, then you can flirt."
Ji Minghua: "Yes, sir! Let's tear this dump apart together. Once we're out, I'll leave it a bad review."
The Main God: "Could you show me some respect?"
Theme: Even in the coldest, most artificial world, nothing beats the courage to tear the place apart side by side.
