He Xu, a vampire boy, gets caught up in a baffling case by chance and meets Baili Xu, a member of a vampire-hunting family. They later enroll at St. Covenant Academy, where they train, fight monsters, and grow alongside their companions, only to be framed and expelled. He discovers secrets in an old castle and searches for the truth. While pursuing the culprit, they each awaken their own talismans and learn of the existence of the Tower of Ashes.

Volume Two: The Elven Tree

The team discovers that a plague is spreading among the elves. While searching for ingredients to restore the elven book, they encounter an ancient elf deep in an underground cavern, where the elf had been imprisoned and put to sleep by the master of the Tower of Ashes. They successfully concoct an antidote and take the ancient elf with them, learning from them about the tower master's past.

Volume Three: The Silver Ring

The space where the academy's training exercise takes place undergoes a strange change, and a host of natural disasters invade. He Xu exposes himself while saving people and is captured by the Tower of Ashes for experimentation. To become stronger, Baili Xu searches for the silver ring, a family relic that has been lost. After joining forces to rescue He Xu, they investigate in secret and unmask the person who caused the disaster.

Volume Four: Fallen Angel

Strange occurrences at the school lead them to suspect a connection between the bell tower, which students are forbidden to enter, the principal, and the Tower of Ashes. But they see through the scheme, join forces with the principal, and disguise their intentions, exposing the mastermind's plot. In the sealed space-time vortex inside the bell tower, they witness the former principal's past.

Volume Five: The Revelation of the Kindling

The disappearance of a former teammate brings them to the giants' territory to search for clues. They are mistaken for enemies and imprisoned, where they unexpectedly discover a message left behind by a predecessor. It gives them a deeper understanding of the world and human nature. They later learn that the founder of the academy died while pursuing equality. Guided by him, they find the kindling left behind by the great war.

Volume Six: The Pope's Crown

They uncover crimes deliberately buried in the slums and follow the trail to expose a bishop's plot. To stop him from obtaining the pope's crown, they seize it first. However, the master of the Tower of Ashes uses the bishop to trap them in a formation. With their lives on the line, more people join the fight at their side, allowing them to escape successfully.

Volume Seven: The Covenant Stele

The Tower of Ashes grows stronger by the day and continues to bring about disasters. He Xu and his companions find the Covenant Stele to suppress the power of the Ashes, then lead everyone in fighting the Tower of Ashes. For their shared goal of achieving equality between all races, he and Baili Xu leap into the space-time vortex to seal the tower master for good. During the ten years they spend in the past inside the vortex, they save their younger selves and resolve the knots in their hearts.
