[Blurb]
Xu Zhi is one of the most ordinary students in class. Throughout three years of high school, he keeps to himself, unnoticed and ignored.
Xiao Ye is tall, long-legged, and an outstanding student who regularly claims the top spot in his grade. With his handsome face and rebellious air, he receives so many love letters he can barely keep up. He's the undisputed heartthrob of the school.
On a night of sudden downpour, one sits and one stands in the silent classroom. Xu Zhi hooks a finger under his thin-rimmed glasses, revealing light brown eyes and a small mole near his right eyebrow. "I'll keep your secret, but you have to be my boyfriend."
Xiao Ye glares at the girl fiercely for a long moment, then laughs mockingly. "Xu Zhi, don't regret this."
-
After they get together, Xiao Ye discovers that Xu Zhi is mean and cunning, and loves messing with him so much that he treats him like a dog. Xu Zhi even says he lacks human sense.
"Xu Zhi, just wait until you fall into my hands one day." Xiao Ye grits his teeth as he carries Xu Zhi's schoolbag.
Xu Zhi blinks his light brown eyes twice and smiles. "Sure."
But when Xu Zhi breaks up with him, she doesn't even show up in person. They graduate and go their separate ways, and Xiao Ye gets dumped for good.
At the end-of-school banquet, everyone tries to comfort Xiao Ye. "Ye, don't be too upset. Once you're in college, there'll be all kinds of girls prettier than Xu Zhi."
Xiao Ye laughs and curses at them. "Get lost, all of you. Who said I'm upset? It's great that we broke up. I couldn't be happier."
One morning after that, Xiao Ye wakes from a nightmare drenched in sweat, still shaken, with two tear tracks on his face.
In the dream, rain pours down as he clings to Xu Zhi's hand from behind, gripping so hard his eyes sting. He begs her to turn around and look at him just once.
But in the end, neither in the dream nor in real life does Xu Zhi want him.
Reader's guide:
1. Happy ending, with a satisfying "I can't believe I ever said that" romance.
2. Both leads are pretty awful people. Readers with high standards for morality should proceed with caution. To be clear, they really are that immoral.
3. The author wrote this while sleepwalking, so the story will go wherever it goes. The characters' values don't represent the author's.
4. Both leads are in their final year of high school from the start, and are already adults.
Next up: "Cherry Mud." If you're interested, please bookmark it on the neighboring page. Thanks :D
[Blurb]
Five years after her parents died, Ling Zhi's dog, whom she had raised and kept by her side for fifteen years, died in a veterinary hospital bed.
Ling Zhi wanted a child of her own.
At twenty-eight, she had no family in the world, only a bit of money. But she didn't choose medical treatment. It hurt too much, and it wasn't worth it.
Nothing could compare to choosing someone herself, she thought as she sat in the driver's seat of her luxury car, watching the young, fit bodies coming and going at the sports university across the road.
That night, she picked the best one. After a few encounters, she got pregnant. The moment the test results came in, she blocked the man on every platform and vanished without a trace.
-
Three years later.
Ling Zhi thinks the handsome, gentle new male teacher at her daughter's kindergarten always looks at her strangely, with a hint of resentment.
One day, as she's pressed into the bed and a mole on the middle segment of his finger comes into view, she wraps her fair, pink-tinged arms around the man's neck and endures his burning, aggrieved, furious kisses. Only then does she suddenly realize:
Oh. This man might be her child's biological father.
Reader's guide: The female lead is not a virgin, the male lead is. Eight-year age gap. The female lead is cool and detached; the male lead is a gentle, considerate puppy-like man with strong maternal instincts.
Theme: Love yourself well.
