The Farmer's Daughter Strikes Back

After years of drought, the land was strewn with the dead. When Xingxing, a ten-year-old farm girl, was sold by her parents to a trafficker in exchange for rice, she unexpectedly found herself imprisoned in the same cart as Qiao Heng, a young master fallen on hard times. In their desperate situation, the young girl relied on her quick wits and courage to plan their escape step by step, leading Qiao Heng out of danger at the risk of her life.

After they escaped, grateful for her help, Qiao Heng took her back to the Qiao residence. Taking pity on her lonely circumstances, the Qiao family took her in as a distant orphaned relative. From then on, she went by Qiao Xingzhou and grew up safely within the family estate. After more than a decade together, the two, who had once shared danger and hardship, gradually fell in love. By the time they were eighteen, their feelings were clear.

But the vast gulf between their social statuses became an impassable barrier. The Qiao family insisted on separating them and planned to marry Qiao Xingzhou off to an ordinary family. Unable to give up on each other, the pair decided to elope, but the Qiaos eventually found them and brought them back. Before the turmoil had even settled, more malice followed: Qiao Heng's cousin Zhao Lian'er secretly meddled, while Hei Wa, who had also been sold back then and now lived at the Qiao residence, worked against them too. Misunderstandings piled up, nearly severing their bond.

What will become of them?
