There is a certain kind of feel-good novel where the protagonist has nothing from the start, yet always finds devoted underlings, teachers willing to share everything they know, or villains who become stepping stones...
System: "Your job is to play these supporting characters and help pave the way for the protagonist's success."
Shi Huaijin: "Leave it to me."
System: "Then die after completing the mission."
Shi Huaijin: "Wow, no loose ends to worry about."
World One: The Student Council President at a Noble Academy
Sterling Academy, the top school in countless people's eyes, an ivory tower of civilization. But only those inside know that this is no paradise where one can rise to the top overnight, but a gladiatorial arena that devours people: a rigid hierarchy, rampant bullying, the survival of the fittest... all kept carefully under wraps.
Then Shi Huaijin arrived. He became the universally acclaimed President Shi, but unlike all his predecessors, he did not use his power to fan the flames or throw his weight around. Quite the opposite: he purged the academy's dark side and tried to keep bullying out.
People should have scoffed at him, but he was Shi Huaijin. His powerful family, outstanding talent, and extraordinary beauty turned every trace of disdain into furtive gazes, admiration, and longing.
President Shi should have remained forever above everyone's reach, someone they could only look up to. Yet he suddenly took a special interest in a newly enrolled student admitted on scholarship: rescuing him at the welcome party, protecting him through the student council, opening his family's laboratory to him... and even falling out with several childhood friends.
To complete his objective, Shi Huaijin did not hesitate to turn against his childhood friends. Fortunately, the protagonist came through for him and returned to his family with his help, though he became a little too dependent on him.
But the three F's, whom Shi Huaijin had thought hated him to the bone, confessed to him one after another. Perplexed, Shi Huaijin had no choice but to put the final mission on his agenda:
Drink the poisoned wine in the protagonist's place at his coming-of-age ceremony.
World Two: The Master in a Cultivation World
Everyone knows Lord Jinghong: a prodigy who made his name young, astonishingly gifted, with swordsmanship beyond compare. He has saved the people from countless calamities, then left without a backward glance.
Everyone awaited the day he would take on disciples. At last, Lord Jinghong emerged from seclusion and accepted a student, but only one.
The favored children of heaven clamored to be chosen, yet he took in an unknown nobody from an ordinary background.
To teach the protagonist well, Shi Huaijin did everything himself. He taught him swordsmanship hand over hand, took him to all sorts of secret realms, and fed him expensive medicinal herbs. After several years, he was utterly exhausted.
At last, the mission reached its turning point. Shi Huaijin told the protagonist without a trace of emotion that he had chosen him to increase his own cultivation. Now, he was going to kill him and refine him into medicinal ingredients.
Then he deliberately let the protagonist escape, so he could go live carefree: he took on another little disciple to do the chores and spent his days traveling through mountains and rivers with his friends.
When the time was right, someone would seize his cultivation, and the victorious protagonist would humiliate and kill him with his own hands.
But just as Shi Huaijin was captured and about to lose all his cultivation, the protagonist, who should have been practicing, appeared out of nowhere and blocked every attack for him, his eyes filled with scornful hatred
And some other emotion he couldn't quite name.

[Reader advisory]:
1. A whole range of love-and-hate moonlight tropes: looking up to the moon, hating that it shines on everyone, hating that it shines only on you, fishing the moon out of the mud... The author's taste runs to every flavor of tangled love and hate.
2. The pursuer is split into fragments and is the protagonist of each world. Other characters love him but cannot have him. The beloved only falls in love with the protagonist, but has emotional entanglements with other characters.
3. The order of the small worlds is not fixed. Most have bad endings, but the overall story has a happy ending.
4. Updates every other day at 9 p.m., with extra chapters depending on the rankings.
