Older shizun and younger disciple, 1v1, a bittersweet, slightly melodramatic romance (currently drafting~)
When Shen Yunxiao was three, an immortal found him and raised him as his disciple. The elegant, otherworldly immortal treated him wonderfully, keeping all his tenderness for the boy despite his icy demeanor.
He remained the immortal's only disciple until he was sixteen.
That year, he reached Foundation Establishment and gained several junior disciples. Perhaps it was the stirrings of adolescence, or perhaps possessiveness, but his feelings for his shizun changed into something else.
At twenty-eight, he formed his Golden Core. When someone discovered his feelings, Shen Yunxiao could no longer hide them. Filled with regret, he begged Yu Ji not to cast him out.
In the end, he was expelled from the sect. From then on, Shengling Mountain had one fewer senior disciple and one name that no one was allowed to mention.
Shen Yunxiao left Shengling Mountain in despair, taking nothing with him.
After he left, Yu Ji stood in Shen Yunxiao's room, staring at the storage ring he had given him for his birthday. Not a single thing inside had been touched.
Then the ring crumbled to dust.
Three hundred years later, Shen Yunxiao opened a small tavern on the border between the immortal and demonic realms, at the edge of the continent. He offered travelers food and lodging. All these years, his cultivation had remained at the Golden Core stage, and he had lost the drive to cultivate. He only wanted to live out the rest of his years peacefully in his tavern.
He thought five hundred years was long enough for a Golden Core cultivator. If the immortal hadn't taken him back to the mountain, his life might have ended when he was three. The immortal had given him all these extra years.
He was deeply grateful to that immortal. Of course, he wouldn't dare entertain any other thoughts.
Until one day, a special guest arrived at the usually quiet tavern.
Shen Yunxiao nearly dropped the teapot.
He forced himself to stay calm as he served the guest their food. But when he turned to leave, the immortal grabbed him by the wrist.
Disbelief filled that ethereal face. "Where did you get all these injuries?"
"And why has your cultivation remained at the Golden Core stage?"
Without a word, the High Immortal brought someone back to Shengling Mountain. Those who came to ask about it were given just one answer: "He's my immortal partner."
The High Immortal's disciples all exchanged bewildered looks. Since when did they have a shiniang?
