A socially anxious, adorably oblivious girl vs. a scheming, reserved cool guy
[Childhood sweethearts | He has a secret crush | Hidden identity | Wolf-and-rabbit couple]
Ning Jiuwei is a socially anxious screenwriter who has been single for twenty-six years and has no idea how to date.
The problem is, her latest project is a romance drama.
After a week of writer's block, Ning Jiuwei placed an order online for a "boyfriend-for-hire," planning to try dating for herself and find some inspiration.
On the day they were supposed to meet, she went to the cafe as arranged.
By the window, a man in a black coat lounged against his chair. His handsome face stood out from the crowd.
Ning Jiuwei took a deep breath, walked over, and said, "Hello, I'm Ning Jiuwei. I'm here... to date you."
Liang Xuchuan was only giving a friend a ride to meet a client. He never expected that his childhood sweetheart, whom he hadn't seen in years, wouldn't recognize him and would ask him to pretend he liked her.
After reading her dating plan, he asked casually, "Why not find a real boyfriend?"
Ning Jiuwei didn't want to reveal that she had no experience, so she pouted and lied. "Because I was... really badly hurt in a relationship before, and I'm afraid to take it seriously again."
Liang Xuchuan closed the plan thoughtfully. "Fine."
He wanted to see what kind of heartbreak she'd suffered.
Liang Xuchuan found the Ning Jiuwei of today unfamiliar.
He knew she thought of him as her "fake boyfriend," but still, how could she ask for a hug on their very first date?
Fine, a hug it is.
He pulled Ning Jiuwei into his arms and even placed her hand on his Adonis belt.
To get into the emotions for a scene where the leads argue, Ning Jiuwei made up a story about being dumped by her ex but still unable to forget him.
As soon as she finished, Liang Xuchuan asked with a cold expression, "What do you like about him? Is he better-looking than me?"
Ning Jiuwei nodded.
After watching him for a moment, she asked with wide, sparkling eyes, "Aren't you supposed to pin me against the wall and kiss me angrily now?"
Liang Xuchuan really was angry. It was one thing for her to have terrible taste, but how could she do something like that with a boyfriend-for-hire she found online?
He furrowed his brows and held out for a moment, but then, against his better judgment, he pressed the back of her head toward him and kissed her fiercely.
Thanks to this dating experiment, Ning Jiuwei finished her script without a hitch.
She planned to end things with Liang Xuchuan, but he refused to let her.
In the living room, he pinned her against the door and curled his lips. "Ning Jiuwei, do you really not remember me at all?"
Ning Jiuwei shook her head innocently.
Liang Xuchuan laughed in exasperation.
"I went along with everything couples are supposed to do, and now you're saying you don't need me anymore?"
Ning Jiuwei: "Then what do you want?"
He looked down at her and calmly said two words: "Make it official."
[Bonus Scene]
Later, Ning Jiuwei finally remembered who Liang Xuchuan was.
She got angry and tried to leave, but Liang Xuchuan pulled her back onto the bed.
"Baby, weren't you going to try out a new character today? We haven't even started."
Thinking of the royalties waiting for her, Ning Jiuwei sat up and ordered, "Go put on a white shirt and button it up. Wait for me to come find you."
Liang Xuchuan leaned close, his voice full of laughter. "In the study or on the balcony?"
