After Jiang Lian died unexpectedly, his soul transmigrated.
Quite literally: his visible soul entered the full-dive power-fantasy game he'd once played.
The character he'd played was neither a major nor a minor one. He was the power fantasy hero's stepping stone, the villainous uncle who had tormented the hero for seven years.
Even if the hero skinned him alive and tore out his tendons for everything he'd done during those seven years, that would still count as letting him off easy.
But Jiang Lian hadn't forgotten that his story ended with not even a body left behind.
So when he met the power fantasy hero for the first time, Jiang Lian remained composed and acted as though they'd never met.
Unfortunately, the hero calmly called him Uncle.
Jiang Lian: "...I don't know you. Before you start reminiscing, please do me the favor of exorcising the ghost who looks like your uncle."
The infamous power fantasy hero sounded fairly calm. "He never taught me that."
"I only know what he taught me. Want to try it?"
Jiang Lian: ...
Back then, not much of what he'd taught the hero had been useful, and two-thirds of it had involved torture.
From the gong's point of view:
Su Yingtang lost his mother in childhood and his father as a teenager. With collateral relatives eyeing the family fortune, Jiang Lian, who claimed to be his father's sworn younger brother, showed up at his door.
Jiang Lian had a beautiful face and a demon's heart. He claimed he was raising Su Yingtang, but the worst suffering Su Yingtang ever endured was all at his hands.
Kneeling in the snow, lying in a sea of fire, entering a mountain of blades: Jiang Lian would subject him to anything that might improve his cultivation.
Every time Su Yingtang came back from the brink of death, Jiang Lian would praise him with a barb or two.
As a boy, Su Yingtang swore more than once that he'd cut Jiang Lian to pieces.
Later, when the Su family estate was ablaze, Jiang Lian stood in the sea of fire with his sword in hand and called him by his childhood name with a smile. "Jianwei, after all this time teaching you, how are you still not ruthless enough?"
The fire burned for three days. In the end, not even Jiang Lian's bones remained.
Su Yingtang had thought he only hated Jiang Lian for getting off easy in death.
But in the middle of the night, he often found himself remembering Jiang Lian coaxing him to take his medicine, teaching him the ways of cultivation, and helping him seek revenge...
Those memories would flash before his eyes, only to become Jiang Lian asking with a half-smile, "So weak. When will you be able to kill me? Hmm?"
Perhaps he didn't hate Jiang Lian quite so much.
Reader's guide:
1. The author has no food, so this is a self-indulgent labor of love.
2. Fake melodrama, real romance. A sweet story, not even remotely an angst-filled, obsessive romance. If you're looking for a melodramatic, angsty romance, this probably isn't for you.
3. No ship-policing. Don't break up or reverse the CP.
