An eldritch god who has been widowed for centuries and is going mad x a sweet, gentle beauty who's a bit slow on the uptake
1
Bai Bai was an utterly ordinary lab worker in the apocalypse, responsible for raising monster larvae.
Just before the calamity struck, he was doing what he always did, choosing the right formula for the larvae. Then he died, as ordinarily as could be.
And then he came back to life.
Hundreds of years later, the average human lifespan had surpassed five hundred years. The world was peaceful and prosperous, just as it had been before the apocalypse.
And after being given support for the unemployed, he found himself living a life of luxury, with a mansion, a luxury car, and milk baths.
Apparently, he had the leader of the human base to thank for it all.
Bai Bai went to offer his thanks. The handsome, broad-shouldered man watched him for a moment, then smiled and held out a tiny monster larva.
It was the tentacled larva Bai Bai had raised, looking frail and pitiful.
The man said, "They miss you so much. Take them with you."
Bai Bai was delighted and reached out to take them, but the man didn't let go of his hand.
Confused, Bai Bai asked, "What's wrong?"
The leader said, "...No, it's nothing."

Their beloved had died, back when they were at their weakest, in their larval stage.
The dead could not come back to life. Even an eldritch god had to accept being a widower. But they refused to give up.
They battered themselves against the impossible until they were bloodied and bruised,
until they heard the familiar sound of their beloved's heartbeat once more.
They were so close to going mad.
And yet they had to hold it in.
...They couldn't scare their beloved.
◆ Extra Scene 1 ◇
After hundreds of years apart, the larva was clingy, and Bai Bai doted on it.
But hundreds of years had passed. Why was the larva still a larva?
Worried, Bai Bai decided to visit the leader and ask. He'd heard that monsters and humans were one big happy family now.
Yes, even though he couldn't imagine the handsome, self-controlled man turning into a monster, the leader was a monster.
And a very easygoing, kind person, who lived right next door.
The man patiently explained that Bai Bai needed to spend more time with the larva. The more contact they had, the faster it would grow.
As though the larva suffered from contact deprivation.
Bai Bai earnestly gave the larva a little kiss. "Like this?"
The tentacle that had been secretly cuddling up to Bai Bai from behind changed color. Its pink coils curled up shyly.
The man suppressed his feelings. "...Yes, exactly like that."
◆ Extra Scene 2 ◇
Most people both revered and feared the leader. They revered them for increasing the average human lifespan, and feared them because they were an eldritch god.
Fortunately, the leader rarely showed up.
But lately, they had started appearing frequently, always with a graceful young man in tow.
The young man had an eldritch god's larva perched on his shoulder and the god's true form holding his hand. The two of them chatted and laughed together.
The others looked at him with admiration!
This person was truly terrifying!
# A sweet romance with both leads' hearts set only on each other. The reborn larva is a fragment of the top's power.
