Raising Characters on the Grand Line

On the first day of your vacation, a game mysteriously appeared on your phone. Its icon was a skull, and its name was Let's Play Raising Games.

At first, you didn't think much of it. Then you discovered that the game took up 100 GB of storage. You mashed the uninstall button, but nothing happened. You restarted your phone, flashed its firmware, and even got a new phone, but the game reappeared the next day.

Thinking, "Let's see what kind of virus this is," you grumbled and opened the game.

[Here, you can raise, collect, accompany, and bond with characters, and even change certain fated destinies!]

[Your first draw is free. Draw your first little one!]

You looked at the chibi characters in the free pool. Each had a different personality, appearance, and set of abilities.

Your fingertip hovered over the "Draw" button.

[Ding! Golden Legend!]

Dazzling golden light filled the screen. When it faded, a chibi character appeared in the middle of the screen. He wore a straw hat, had round, bright eyes, and a rubbery body that could stretch half a meter. He stuffed everything into his mouth.

[Name: Monkey D. Luffy]

[Rarity: UR]

[Current Status: Childhood]

You thought: ...He's actually pretty cute.

You watched the chibi Luffy run around on his own, jump around, and chase butterflies all over the mountain. When you tossed him food, he thought it had fallen from the sky. When you tapped his straw hat at night, he rubbed his head, thinking it was the wind. When you tucked in his blanket, he thought he was dreaming.

But gradually, Luffy began to sense that something was off.

"Why does meat always appear beside me whenever I'm hungry?"

"Why does it always feel like there's an invisible umbrella over my head when it rains?"

"Why... do I always feel like someone's watching me?"

Luffy went from being puzzled, to testing things out, until one night, when you tucked in his blanket through the screen, he suddenly opened his round eyes wide and asked, "Who are you?"

The real change came on the day his affection level increased.

A new notification suddenly lit up the screen:

[Affection Level Increased. Conversation Feature Unlocked.]

You tentatively typed and sent your first message: "Hello?"

After that, Luffy started talking to the air every day, asking what your name was, where you were, and whether you would always be there.

Then one day, a beam of golden light suddenly burst across the screen.

[Luffy's Bond Level Requirement Met!]

[Congratulations, a New Draw Pool Has Been Unlocked!]

[You can now draw more little ones!]

[One free draw has been added.]

The second chibi character had long earlobes, golden hair, and crackling sparks of electricity in his hand. He was a little withdrawn, and his name was Enel.

The third chibi character had messy red hair like seaweed and a gentle smile. He was so captivating when he smiled that it was hard to look away. His name was Shanks.

As their affection levels continued to rise, new draw pools kept unlocking. You drew one chibi character after another, filling up the collection.

You spent the entire vacation raising them, watching helplessly as they grew from chibi characters into teenagers.

When their affection reached the maximum level, the dialogue box didn't show a thank-you. Instead, they confessed their love for you:

"I bet this arm on the new age... But I'd like to use what's left to hold you."

"If you could, would you like to be the only mistress of the Holy Land?"

"I like you best. I like you more than anyone."

Looking at their earnest expressions on the screen, you didn't take their confessions seriously, thinking they were just lines written into the game.

Then, on the day your vacation was nearly over, the app displayed several system notifications:

[Two-way passage activated.]

[Welcome to the Grand Line!]

Before you could react, everything went black.

When you opened your eyes again, you were lying on an unfamiliar white beach beneath a tropical sun. All around you was a vast ocean, with nothing else in sight. You were on a deserted island.

You were still clutching your phone tightly. Its screen was lit up, and the app displayed a notification:

[Current Coordinates: East Blue, an unnamed deserted island]

[Welcome to the Grand Line!]
