Top: Lin Xin
Bottom: Lin Wenshu
First, a warning: this is that kind of novel. If you think this sort of thing is sick, I don't recommend reading it. Please steer clear if it's not for you.
Orphaned at a young age, Lin Wenshu is adopted by the wealthy Lin family. He moves into their luxurious but cold villa and spends his days with Lin Xin, the family's only son. Lin Xin is domineering and possessive, with a deep-seated need to control everything. From the start, he lays down all kinds of rules for Lin Wenshu, gradually isolating him from others and restricting his freedom. Through psychological pressure and physical restraint, he keeps Lin Wenshu firmly by his side.
Dependent on the family taking him in, Lin Wenshu is already sensitive and insecure. Day after day, their twisted relationship slowly traps him in an invisible cage. Prolonged oppression and psychological torment cause his emotions to crumble and his symptoms of depression to worsen. In desperation, he tries to escape, but Lin Xin quickly catches him and brings him back, subjecting him to even more extreme control and abuse.
By the time Lin Xin belatedly realizes that Lin Wenshu is on the verge of collapse, his overwhelming possessiveness still won't let him set him free. In the end, utterly consumed by despair, Lin Wenshu takes his own life. No one is left to struggle in the cage that held them both. Lin Xin remains alone in the empty villa, imprisoned for the rest of his life by the shackles he forged with his own hands. The story ends in a complete tragedy, a bad ending.
